Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.

Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to be unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you take it down. Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, including mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a new random affix that is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats that can be upgraded to increase damage or perks.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, however, they can still receive upgrades. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen for recycling. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, therefore items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
